Shinichiro Watanabe has 2 new anime series in the works

"That’s right legendary anime-visionary Shinichiro Watanabe hot off the heels of the success of Kids on the Slope has announced that he is currently working on two new series launching in 2013 and 2014.

The first of which series is slated to be produced by BONES and was described by Watanabe as “a space-travel action comedy”. This particular series is due to launch in 2013 and is being considered the spiritual successor to Cowboy Bebop, Watanabe’s most famous work." (Anime, Shinichiro Watanabe)

Nah spiritual successor is better. Cowboy Bebop had a fantastic ending and adding to it could possibly tarnish the overall impression of the show.

I'll just be happy to see something similar.

Cowboy Bebop ended perfectly. I'd rather see a new work from Watanabe.

Regardless, this is fantastic news. Kids on the Slope proved Watanabe hasn't lost his touch.

THIS is what I want to hear in the anime industry. I do hope though that one day, Dai Saito (script writer), Yoko Kanno (music composer), Yutaka Nakamura (Key animator) and Shinuchiro Watanabe (director) will come together one more time to make another master piece like they did with Cowboy Bebop and let Bones studio over watch the project, since everything that comes from those guys is ALWAYS straight quality.
