Why Writers Should Watch Anime

Anime, you say?

Wikipedia states the following:
“Anime (アニメ, ˈænɨmeɪ/ or /ˈɑːnɨmeɪ/) is a style of animation originating in Japan, characterized by colorful graphics and often featuring themes intended for an adult audience. The word is the Japanese abbreviated pronunciation of “animation.” ”

Famous examples are Spirited Away (movie), Dragonball/Z/GT series, Bleach series, Naruto series, Pokémon series, Ghost in the Shell movies, Akira (movie) and many, many more.

Many anime (mostly focused on children) has become well-known outside of Japan and are mostly dubbed.

In my opinion, watching or reading anything from across our countries’ borders is a good thing. It makes you more familiar with the world “out there”, which can enrichen your writing. But why anime in particular?

Anime reveals part of the eastern culture which I enjoy learning about. Just don't go thinking nose bleeds due to sexual thoughts is a common reality.
