Anime Vice: ''Whether through word of mouth or sailing into a pirate bay, we gotta find this stuff somehow, right? Or is there a wrong way to go about this? Draw me a map, Straw Hats!''
I think word-of-mouth plays a decent role in helping me pick out anime. I mean, a few months ago I decided to check out Hunter X Hunter primarily because FutureFrog has often spoken very highly of it. Now I'm 60 episodes in and loving every minute!

I discover anime in a lot of different ways. On here, obviously; checking http://countdown.mandragon.... for the latest anime showing in Japan; friends recommending something; the occasional wikipedia trawl; anime coming out for a manga I read, or plan to read and quite often by just finding out the source of GIF's which I think look interesting.
I just pick up the latest stuff coming out each season. Then sometimes if one I didn't pick up is getting talked about a lot, I'll give it a shot. Though if it has fan service in any way, I'm all over it anyways.
Same and i try new genres except spice of life.
I learn of New Anime from Amazon, of all places.
I suggest you go to myanimelist. Got some of the biggest list of animes. You can even search by genres and a lot of users do reviews.
Really? I'm a total newbie to the genre. I'll have to check it out thanks!
I just join some forums and sub to some people who watch Anime and find some by that, one anime coming soon i'm looking forward to(just started reading the manga)is Shingeki no Kyojin(Attack on Titan), i saw the art style of the show and made me want to check the manga out before i watch it.
Yeah i read the manga couple weeks ago its damn good. I just really hate the voice actor the main in Attack on Titan. I just know Kaji is going to do that whiney voices he does in all his other animes.
It's easy: 1: Go to Sankaku Complex. 2: Search for a list of bad anime, you can use words like dissapointing, bad, boring. 3: There you have a list of good anime to see.
I'm sort of new to the whole Anime scene. Can you please elaborate on why Sankaku is bad?
It's not like SanCom is bad, I dont find it "useful", but god, the comments are plain hilarious. That aside, they usually put a lot of top 10, usually things like "Worst anime" "dissapointing anime" and "best anime". When you chek'em, all of those are good anime, since usually good anime has the same account of lovers and haters. Sometimes the're really plain wrong (Or plain right, if you're looking a bad anime list), but the comment section do a pretty good job pointing out what good anime should or should'nt be on those lists. And makes you laugh in the process.
