Footage of Transformation to Super Saiyan God – Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods

The Saiyans from DBZ help Goku reach the highest of power levels. (Anime, Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods)

i thought he would get angry and go crazy. that transformation was disappointing.

I too was expecting something explosive..

i agree but during the movie if we were to get something explosive like the ssj3 transformation we would've gotten 30 minutes of screaming.

I couldn't disagree more.

The scene was perfectly framed, and it makes perfect sense for the final transformation--Goku's apotheosis--to be calm and subdued.

The whole thing about being ruled by anger to become SSJ was antithetical to Goku's character, and even DBZ itself eventually got around to pointing out that anger was a detriment to increased power. It makes perfect sense that the final transformation would be calm and harmonious.

And besides, DBZ has really only ever had four real transformation scenes... (Goku SSJ, Vegeta SSJ, Trunks USSJ, and Gohan SSJ2)... of which, only two were fueled by anger.

It's heavily implied that a calm mind was necessary to reach the USSJ and SSJ3 levels.

tl;dr The scene was great, you're applying inappropriate expectations to this. Get over it.

A god is supposed to be peaceful so it makes sense. I just don't like the term being used for nonreligous stuff. Could have called it super saiyan legend or something
Nitrowolf2  +   1042d ago
God of War is not a peaceful god, and in fatc many of the gods in mythology/egyptian/norse can be described far from Peaceful.

I sense a divergence from canon. Wait! does that mean DBZ GT is non canon now?

I'm confused now.
Pushagree  +   1042d ago
GT is perfectly canon. Movies have always been non-canon and don't go with the story at all.
tayz  +   1042d ago
this movie is canon. DBGT is not.

GT is NOT canon, and never will be. I like the transformation, it's unique and it's a whole new form that could possibly lead to other transformations within that form. You can only draw so many SSJ forms before it starts looking ridiculous. If they didn't choose to create a God mode, then a new saga would be near impossible to make, which is why I think Akira Toriyama decided to go this route. Also, I think people would be less disappointed(although they shouldn't be) if it was called "Saiyan God" rather than "Super Saiyan God".

The Movie is Canon

@Cooguy1212

It's definitely more fuel for the writers at fanfiction.net.

I can hardly wait!

I'm used to the old fashioned Transformation but I guess a peaceful transformation is not that bad, it does makes sense because it needs six pure hearted saiyans plus it is called a super saiyan god so a peaceful transformation fits well to it.
