Japanese Citizens Set New Twitter Record During Re-Airing Of Anime Classic

Once again, the power of the Japanese web user was in full force last August 2 as the netizens set a new Twitter record of 143,199 tweets per second (TPS) during the TV re-airing of Hayao Miyazaki‘s anime classic Castle in the Sky (Tenku no Shiro Rapyuta). Users tweeted the word “balus”, a spell of destruction that the main characters Princess Sheeta and Pazu say at the film’s climactic scene, destroying the flying city and saving themselves.
