Over the past decade, there have been many changes in the anime community, one of which is the recent boom in harem shows. Why is it that a majority of anime in the market today feel the need have an excessive amount of sex appeal aimed more specifically towards men? Usually within a show, the male protagonist progresses through the series with a female lead and at times a harem of other female characters. Sometimes, these characters are often stereotyped even further into set archetypes, such as the yandere and the tsundere. These copy and paste character sheets help get a series moving and progress the story, but why is it that after all these years, the character models have never really changed?
