This episode was fun. This episode was pure and unadulterated fan-service, not in the sexualized way (though that was there as well), but in giving fans what they wanted - cool characters being cool, and the power of friendship being made manifest.

Yes, we also had our characters being cute and funny in a show that doesn't focus on it. This may have been the "weakest" episode since episode 16, but it was one of the more enjoyable ones.

Who doesn't enjoy it when a show works hard to give him what he wants, when what he wants is Fight Club Mako? :D
