Ping Pong Episode 2 - Super Robo-Samurai Love-Story!

Another entry in my note-taking and thought-jotting series of posts on currently running shows. This episode had turned coach into an amazing character, and had shown us just who Smile is. He's a robot, a /killer/ robot.

As always, the notes were taken while actually watching the episode, and rather than just repeating what you've already watched, elaborate upon it, assuming you've already watched the episode. (Anime, Ping Pong)

If early on we thought Smile will abandon his shell, he surprised us all by embracing his "weakness" and turning it into an indomitable strength. He knows who he is. The coach became such a lovely character as well. Amazing.

Finally, the ping pong "duel" was narrated in the way samurai manga duels are narrated, and even had touches such as talking of higher concepts while seeing a butterfly. Very stylistic, and very fitting.
