No Game, No Life Episode 12 (Finale!) - Impressions and Notes

Another entry in my note-taking and thought-jotting series of posts on currently running shows. This episode focused on why losing is worthwhile, and had shown us some more of the geo-political wargames Sora and Shiro engage in, downplayed for once.

As the finale, there's also a short discussion on this show's narrative structure.

As always, the notes were taken while actually watching the episode, and rather than just repeating what you've already watched, elaborate upon it, assuming you've already watched the episode.

This was a good episode. Even though most of it was talking, or perhaps because of it, it was one of the better ones. Not force-feeding us information on how and why, but giving hints for the most part.

The discussion on losing did feel a tad hollow, considering Blank never loses.

I like how no one noticed that half way through that last game they forgot about the ammo mechanics and went unlimited ammo.
I am not complaining about the score in this particular impression but I still cannot understand why anyone would like this series to any high degree. Go watch Kaiji ultimate surviver people. Its a gambling anime that is leagues better than no game no life.

People like this anime because it's fan-service. Not just the sexual content, but it's an anime designed to make fans feel they are catered to, and it succeeded at that, including in-jokes and everything.
