Sword Art Online II Episode 22 – The Indelible Sickness

Another entry in my note-taking and thought-jotting series of posts on currently running shows. This episode focused on Yuuki's tragic background, and how Asuna will not give up on her, and will keep striving to be close to her.

I've read the Light novels. I /like/ the LNs. But this is the one moment in the series I literally facepalmed. I hoped they'd leave it at "mystery anime sickness" rather than give a... not very good depiction of AIDS.

Well, it was an episode, and to me, this isn't the emotional payoff of the series, but what is yet to come.

What, they seriously toss AIDs into SAO?

Did AIDs ever have the same stigma in Japan it had in the West? Er, and still kind of has?

I need to ask some Japanese friends, but I suspect it might, perhaps even more so, considering how conservative Japan usually comes off as.
