Kara no Kyoukai is on the PlayStation Network, go get it

Japanator: I'm currently punishing myself for letting this pass under my radar, but it turns out that all seven episodes of the awesomely animated, ufotable-produced adaptation of Kara no Kyoukai: The Garden of Sinners is now available for your viewing on the PlayStation Network video store, courtesy of Aniplex. Just search under "G" for Garden of Sinners (they dropped the funny moon-words).

$400 dollar Blu-ray collection huh? Pretty crazy... I can see maybe $100-150 but $400 is way too much, IMO. But Idk, maybe it's a fair price for a Blu-ray release of 7 movies that are an hour to two hours long and what not.

Not sure why it's only in SD and not HD format for the rental, I was really looking forward to watching it in HD but whatever I guess... The video store on PSN is random with HD and SD version anyways. I saw they had the Gundam Unicorns on there in HD, might check it out one day. Hopefully though Kara no Kyoukai gets at least an HD rental to it.

As someone who bought the Blu-ray set I feel it was 100% worth it but only if you are a big fan of the movies to begin with.

I'm of the opinion that the Kara No Kyoukai series of movies are a masterpiece. There has never been to my knowledge a film series that told a single over arching story over 7 films and not only worked but made sense and had a satisfying ending.(Yeah there have been a lot of film series that are more then 7 movies but each movie in series like that tell a different story and not a over arching story)

Not to mention the animation in the KnK movies is some of the best you will ever see and the Blu-rays look drop dead gorgeous. As well as the fact that the box set comes with a beautiful art book with tons of awesome artwork and the box itself is something of a work of art as it's all made of leather(or simulated leather) and velvet on the inside.

I would assume not having HD on these rentals was aniplex's decision and not Sony. It may have something to do with not wanting to make the HD available so cheap when the Blu-ray set was so expensive. But I couldn't tell you for sure.

To be fair, I wouldn't be surprised if I saw it on Amazon for $400 and I choose to grab a boxset, I can be like that sometimes when you just have money to spend. Don't get me wrong, I love the series as well and I feel the same as you do about it. Not sure if there will ever be another series that's like KnK in the future. But I sometimes feel they can be a little too pricey with the Blu-ray sets. So who knows...

Oh yeah I agree about the price of Blu-ray sets. There have been plenty of series released in Japan on Blu-ray that I would love to have on Blu-ray that we will most likely never get in the US but I could never justify paying the prices for them.

Kara No Kyoukai was that one exception. There is nothing else like it and I knew before hand what the set would contain and the high quality of it so I thought the trade off was worth it. More so when you consider the fact that aniplex is unlikely to ever release a normal set for the series. At least not in the foreseeable future.

maybe we'll see some anime series on the eu video store one day.

yeah, like that'll ever happen. o_O

you know it's rather easy to make a US account and then just download them right? I get stuff from the Japanese PSN by just making a Japanese account. Just google How to make a US PSN account if you want to figure out how to do it.
