Rurouni Kenshin to Be Made into Live-Action Movie!

MusicJapan writes: "Fifteen years ago, anime series "Rurouni Kenshin" made its TV anime debut and from 1994 to 1999 the manga had been serialized in manga anthology "Weekly Shonen JUMP". The popular manga had been originally written by Watsuki Nobuhiro and it has been announced that it will eventually be made into a live-action movie.

Starring the role of the main-character "Himura Kenshin" is no one less than Sato Takeru.

The preparations for the movie had already started three years ago and author Watsuki, who is also a fan of Sato Takeru, had a saying in the casting of the actors.

Director for the movie is Ohtomo Keishi, who has also been directing the NHK TV series "Ryoma den" and he said: "With the costumes and the sword in his hands, Sato-san is definitely the real Kenshin!"

The series has long been popular overseas as well and while the crank-up of the movie is planned for this year in July, the release of the movie is scheduled for 2012."
