Kishimoto also owes his career to Katsuhiro Otomo as it was a poster of Akira that made him pick up drawing again. He said this in an interview with Shonen Jump if memory serves.
This is pretty funny because I didn't think I would like Yu Yu Hakusho until I actually started watching it, and later on I didn't think I'd like Bleach either until I started watching it.

This article is silly. I agree that they have some interesting similarities, but most of the similarities are just coincidences. I'm pretty sure that Kishimoto and Kubo weren't huge fans of YuYuHakusho that they'd base their work off it. I've never read a journal entry by Kishimito or Kubo that said they loved YuYuHakusho. Kubo was a fashion artist while Kishimoto's biggest influence for his artwork and manga were DragonBall and Akira.
They themselves have stated that they have not taken YuYuHakusho as an influence. How can you say that they are lying about this?

Masashi Kishimoto and Tite Kubo have already said that their work was NOT influenced by YuYuhakusho or HunterXhunter. But the article writer is saying that they are lying....how silly is that?

Amen. Even though Bleach is a straight up YYH rip off it still used to be pretty good. Togashi contributed so much to the Shounen genre, it's a damn shame he isn't recognized more for those contributions. Ah well, the youngins will just never understand I suppose.
