The Daily Yomiuri's Takamasa Sakurai writes, "I had a longstanding question: Do all Japanese songs have to be sung in English when they are played overseas?

When I attended the New York Anime Festival at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center on Manhattan's East Side in October 2010, I saw voice actor/singer Minori Chihara performing live to thousands of excited audience members. Then the answer came to me: No they don't. Instead, singing in Japanese can be a technique to let people overseas learn about Japan's culture."
