Daily Lives of High School Boys
Danchi Koukouei no Nichijou – ow! The Daily Lives of High School Boys is what you can call peak comedy in true Japanese high school boy fashion. While the anime is tagged as Gag Humor, there is plenty of Slice of live moments where you see the main characters catching on to various shenanigans. In the first episode, from the screenshot above, you may be rolling on the floor with laughter just from the antics of the boys Hidenori, Yoshitake, and Tadakuni. You can also see some Wasteful Days of High School Girls throughout the anime.
Non Non Biyori
Non Non Biyori is a slice of life anime about four elementary and middle school girls. The anime takes place in an isolated village called Asahigaoka. In the anime, you can expect to see the girls navigating the countryside while participating in their own shenanigans. Basically, you can expect to see cute anime girls doing cute anime girl things. And we aren’t talking about makeup and cute dresses. Think more of a tomboy and sibling rivalry type of anime.
Barakamon
Ever wanted to see a young talent narcissist get pulled down a peg or two? In Barakamon, you can see all that and more. Thanks to the little troublemaker called Naru. Handa Sei is a talented calligraphy artist who was once known as an award-winning veteran. After his works have been called unoriginal, he runs away from city life to wallow and work on his skills. But, of course, he is soon troubled, every signal day, by Naru, who pesters him.
Lucky Star
If we can suggest before you even look at the synopsis of the anime and form an opinion, watch the Opening of this anime, and it will tell you everything you need to know. Not only is the OP song catchy, but you can also see the girls for who they are. Konata, our (best girl) resident Otaku, will be most prominent in the anime, and most of the shenanigans will be between Kagami (pigtails) and Konata. There will be some slow moments in the anime, but that’s the way of the Slice.
Nichijou
Another banger from Kyoto Animation, Nichijou or My Ordinary Life, has humor similar to that of the Daily lives of High School Boys (only with girls and much, much more insane). It mainly follows the life of three high school girls and their outrageous reactions to life situations. Case and Point the screenshot above of Yuuko being bit by a dog. The full episode is even more insane.
