The first episode of Elfen Lied is bloody enough to denervate anybody's sanity. Any comments?

deep_fried_bum_cake3886d ago (Edited 3886d ago )

I wasn't too bothered by the gore in Elfen Lied, I just thought it was pretty cool. The Another death was a wee bit more disturbing.

This article doesn't feature Elfen Lied though, and I'm sure it's supposed to. It says top 7 in the title and then suddenly becomes top 6.

The first episode was great, but I felt that following episodes weren't as up to par. Blood-C Uncensored is pretty gory towards the last few episodes, but becomes almost comical.

blood in Evangelion laughs at Elfen Lied!

Well, it desensitized me quite a bit. I was able to go on 4chan without even blinking for weeks. Haha, I dont regret it either, made me a stronger person in my opinion.

Higurashi is hands down the most sickeningly gory anime ever created. I could digest beyond season 1.

The last Episode of School Days was bizarrely bloody though we knew Makoto had to be punished.

There's probably worse in manga

wishingW3L3886d ago (Edited 3886d ago )

when Griffith rapes Caska in front of Guts. I bet they are gonna remove that scene from the movie compilation of Berserk that is coming out soon. Too strong for the newer generation....

GillHarrison3886d ago

They won't, the second movie had some more grotesque scenes than the original anime. It's a far improvement in capturing how dark the world of Berserk is over the first film.

D3mons0ul3886d ago

That would be stupid, it's kind of a known major plot point. I wouldn't assume anything, ever, first of all.

Baka-akaB3885d ago

what ? rofl the newer generation got worse in the like of Wolf guy , where almost an entire volume is dedicated to the rape of a character .

Besides if the tv show could get away with the scene , no reason a Berserk movie , hardly pg 13 thing , wouldnt

Everyone talks about more current anime. But nobody ever mentions some the older series like Hnk, Genocyber, Urotsukidōji, Apocalypse Zero, etc. Many of the old school school series had even more disturbing scenes but are never mentioned....

barb_wire3886d ago (Edited 3886d ago )

Ah Urotsukidoji.. I remember back in the very early 90's I bought a whole slew of those on VHS back when I lived in the UK and to be honest (I was familiar with Japanese manga) the violence, extreme as it was and if you will, gross never bothered me.. considering the Urotsukidoji universe, to me the violence was apt and necessary to the story.

BUT then a curious thing happened.. I just happened to take these VHS tapes to my brother's and had him and his mates watch them... they totally freaked out over the violence - going pale in the face, involuntary stomach spasms and gagging noises. We didn't make it past even the first tape before my brother yanked it out of his VCR. I spent the rest of time there with them looking at me like I was a mass murderer.. guess it didn't help, that when all this was going on, I was laughing my butt off the whole time!

Good Times!

dboyman3885d ago

Geez your brother and his mates reacted harshly to animated violence. Did they ever watch any horror movies, or was it all Disney movies for them? And how old were they?
