Japanator's Marcus Speer writes, "While it's missing that typical 1980's-1990's aesthetic to it, No. 6 defiantly has the makings of a 'buddy-cop' film... minus the whole '-cop' portion... especially when describing the anime thus far as the "rough-and-tough scroungy runaway prisoner" having his life saved by the 'elite college-bound student who seems to have everything'."
