PopDroid writes: There are a lot of anime movies out there. We decided to break down our favorites.
I think Akira is over rated, i watched it. Didnt think it was that good. The best anime movies i have watched are: 1. Sword of the Stranger I mean this is the best fight scene in ALL of anime: http://www.youtube.com/watc... 2. Princess Monoke 3. Ninja Scroll
Akira is #1 defenantly valley of the wind is better than Princess Monoke IMOO The Castle of Cagliostro is the best Lupin III movie Fist of the North Star movie Ninja Scroll Vampire Hunter D bloodlust Ghost in the Shell Perfect Blue Magnetic Rose/Stink Bomb Transformers the animated movie (hey it was made in Japan)
Ninja Scroll and Fist of the North Star movie put me on anime. I cant way whats the best Lupin III movie i saw all of them.
Magnetic Rose/Stink Bomb You mean memories? I recommend checking out Robot Carnival too Here are a few of my favs: Paprika Millennium Actress Macross: Do You Remember Love Angel Egg Grave Of The Fireflies Pom Poko Fantastic Planet (It's French Though) Twilight Of The Cockroaches Tree Of Palme
For once I agree with you on something in that Akira is overrated. It's good enough, but I just don't get the hype. My favourites are: 1. Colorful 2. Grave of the Fireflies 3. Princess Mononoke 4. Spirited Away 5. Howl's Moving Castle
I really enjoyed Howl's Moving Castle even more than Spirited Away. Haven't seen Grave of the Fireflies simply because I don't want to be reduced to tears.
Raf1k1 I rate spirited away higher than Howl's because it was the first anime film I saw and because I think Howl's had a weak ending. I would highly recommend watching GotF even if it does reduce you to tears.
1. Spirited Away
Im with Ranma, I didn't like Akira. I was amazed by the art. It probably was the first Anime I saw. My fav movies: Ninja Scroll Cowboy Bebop Movie Ghost in the Shell was a decent movie but I wasn't huge on the series as others were.
As a movie "Akira" really was highly overrated but I think it could be a fine property if it was given the OVA treatment; maybe like 6 or 8 eps would bring clarity and possibly even better animation than what was present in the original movie.
No particular order this huge list are all my favourite anime movies of all time. Most are actually available for purchase here. Tokyo Godfather Patlabor 1 and 2 especially (Can't believe no one mnetioned these 2), heck 3 wasn't bad Nausicaa Totoro Summer Wars The girl who leapt through time Paprika Cowboy Bebop Ghost in the Shell Solid State Society Princess Mononoke Grave of the Firefly Tenchi Muyo In Love (1st movie) Macross Plus movie Ranma movies City Hunter Motion Picture Silent Mobius movie 1 Hajime no Ippo Challengers Road They Were 11 Both of the recent Evangelion Movies Jinroh Roujin Z Mermaids Scar Black Magic M66 Gunbuster Escaflowne Both Vampire Hunter D movies Sword of the Stranger Please Save My Earth movie Zone of Enders Idolo Broken Blade movies 1-6 were okay. Newmonday mentioned Magnetic Rose (1 part of Memories) which was fantastic. Looking forward to seeing what Towa no Quon 6 movies being released by Sentai are going to be like. Also 'On Your Mark' short music video. Too bad Miyazaki said he couldn't make it better than the short video, it would have been a fantastic feature length movie. Since youtube F#@! sucks, you guys can view the On your mark video here: http://www.dpstream.net/man...
1. oNE pIECE sTRONG WORLD 2. sORA nO oTONOSHI 3. Cowboy Bebop 4-20 Hentai that's about it for mine
My favorite anime movies goes like this: Cowboy Bebop: Knockin' on Heaven's Door Mononoke Hime Spirited Away Tokyo Godfathers Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind Suzumiya Haruhi no Shoushitsu In that order. Most of the other ones I've seen has been fairly good, tho.
Cowboy Bebop: Knockin' on Heaven's Door, i forgot about this. Also anawesome anime. Some funny parts. Spirited away is the worst anime movie i have ever watched though. over rated, and made no sense. i saw no story in it
The anime movie with second best action scenes (after Sword of the stranger) i have watched is FF7: Advent Children. Though it had a poor story But am not sure if you can consider that an "anime" movie
Sword of the Stranger is one of the best animes witch pure action sequences.
Karas was really cool first couple of times I watched it but lost it's appeal too quickly. Cowboy Bebop movie is one of the few I can keep coming back to like Sword of the Stranger and The Girl Who Leapt Through Time.
Believe the best anime of them all is Grave of the Fireflies. This is probably the most graceful and emotional film that Studio Ghibli has ever made.
Come on, no love for Vampire Hunter D?
First movie or second? First was...not so great, but the second was great.
Are you kidding? First Vampire Hunter D was much better then the second one. What was so great about the second one?
Aside from having, imo, a better story, the animation was also leaps and bounds better.
I don't know, Bloodlust seemed to lull in the middle but otherwise it was good.
For its time, Akira was good, but definitely not the best and it clearly hasn't stood the test of time. I still think the Cowboy Bebop movie was one of the best.
Akira still has some of the best animation anime has to offer. It took a Disney style approach using shapes to frame the characters and make them more model like. Where as most anime is free hand. It also used computers to digitally draw most in between frames. It was ahead of it's time. I do agree Cowboy Bebop is definitely one of the best though.
I'd also add: Macross: Do You Remember Love Nausicaa: Valley of the Wind Just to name a few on that list~
Ghost Fighter the movie Bleach Blood the last vampire
Here is my list: -Naussica of the valley of the wind -Tokyo Godfathers -Perfect Blue -Castle in the sky -Evangelion 2.22: You can (not) advance -Millenium Actress -Spirited away -Cowboy Beebop: Knocking on heaven's door. -Bleach: Diamond dust rebellion. That's the one's I could come up with off the top of my head.
Bubs for you for Tokyo Godfathers. One of the best anime films I've ever watched.
Ah yes~ Tokyo Godfather and Millennium Actress, we need more anime movies like those. The Secret World of Arrietty and Grave of the Fireflies are some of the other titles I would add to that list.
Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children has the best action ever, not only in anime, but in all existence. Nothing can ever compare to it. But the story wasn't that all. My fav. movie would be Conqueror of Shambala
You can't go wrong with Hiyao Miyazaki. My personal Favorites are Spirited Away and Ponyo. Also Akira was pretty good
All anime flims interest me. If you think about them compared to regular films think of how much more emotions attached you know :)
