It’s not often the main character dies a “villain,” but that’s the case for Eren Jaeger in Attack on Titan. Ever wondered if Eren completed his goal of killing everyone? Safe to say that yes, he has, but at what cost? In Erens final moments, he confesses many things to Armin, and ultimately, everything he did was for Paradis. But how did Eren meet his end? Follow this guide to learn who defeated Eren in Attack on Titan.
How was Eren defeated in Attack on Titan?
The final battle in Attack on Titan is slowly approaching. If you’ve followed the anime thus far, you may wonder how it ends or how Eren is defeated. However, if you’re too excited to wait for the Final Season, we can let you know how it all goes down!
Let’s refresh our memory before we begin. In the Final Season Special 1, Eren can now use the power of the Founding Titan and begins the Rumbling by freeing all the Colossal Titans within the Walls. Their job? To exterminate and eradicate all human life outside of Paradis to protect Eldians. Naturally, first on their list is Marley. However, it is being guarded by the Global Allied Fleet. They soon prove to be useless against the Colossal Titans.
Eren’s regret and determination
Once the Colossal Titans begin destroying Marley, Eren reminisces about his mother’s death and the goal he set for himself on that fateful day. Because Eren can now use the Founding Titans’ power, he summons all his friends into the Path to speak to them individually. He then reveals his true intentions; he only becomes a threat to the world so they can kill him.
Doing so will permanently destroy the power of the Titans, in which all Titans will revert to normal. While speaking to all his friends, Eren shows great regret and remorse for what he’s done. However, he still pushes on and forces them to go for the kill. We soon learn that Eren will continue the Rumbling in Attack on Titan if he is not defeated. We also know that Eren has killed over 80% of the world’s population since the Rumbling began.
Eren’s final moments in Attack on Titan
You would probably expect the person who put an end to Eren would be Levi. But, unfortunately, this is far from the truth. As you may already know, Levi and Zeke have it out for each other; they are both natural enemies. So, while Levi and Zeke battle it out in Attack on Titan, Eren’s head is detached from his Founding Titan body.
Eren soon transforms into a Colossal Titan and fights with Armin, who is also in his Colossal Titan form. However, Eren has much more experience than Armin and easily overpowers him. But, we forget that Armin is a master strategist; soon after, Armin can open Erens mouth long enough for Mikasa to enter.
Although, when confronted by the Marlyians, Armins confessed he was the one who killed Eren, it was, in fact, Mikasa. When Mikasa entered Erens mouth while in his Colossal Titan form, she cut off his head; after all was said and done, she buried him beneath the tree in Shiganshina District in Attack on Titan. Over time, many of his friends would visit the grave as they reached their end.
