What happens in Heavenly Delusion?
The story takes place in the year 2024, and the world has Collapsed. Civilization is ruined, and many people who survived the Collapse now live in broken homes and empty hospitals. However, remember when we said this anime is dark? Well, there is a facility where robots school children of various ages.
They live in an entirely walled-off area and live in safety. While you may think these kids are safe, through the children’s various interactions, we can tell something is seriously wrong. At times we see the children show off different powers of superhuman abilities and thus leading us to believe that these kids are part of human experiments. This is because when Maru makes his way to the outside, the other humans they meet do not have these abilities.
Throughout the anime, we learn that Maru is looking for a place called Heaven. Thus he employs a girl named Kiruko to be his bodyguard while they wander the ruined areas of Tokyo. Maru is searching for “Heaven,” and Kiruko is looking for two people. Along the way, they fight various monsters and deal with past trauma while searching for Heaven.
