For those of you who don't know, July is basically Asian Movie Month in New York City. For the past couple of weeks, Flixist (Japanator's movie-focused sister site) has been diligently and obsessively covering the New York Asian Film Festival. But with that festival about to end, we thought it would be good to tell you about the Japan Cuts film festival, which is directly-linked-to-but-not-exa ctly-the-same-as NYAFF. Starting this Thursday (July 12th) at the Japan Society in NYC and running until July 28th, the festival will be screening 39 Japanese films, 33 of which are premieres of some kind (including one world premiere), and presenting 7 special (probably Japanese) guests. So it's a pretty big deal, very Japanese, going to be super awesome.
