These Japanese lists are bi-polar. They are always so different from one another. And the fact that K-On is not in Top 10 is the weirdest thing ever! But a good thing to me since I hate it with a passion.

K-On is overrated a lot of people act like its the greatest anime of all time.

frjoethesecond1550d ago

There is no greatest. It's just great to a lot of people. Myself included.

Different people participate in different surveys and peoples tastes change over time. Kinda silly to brand an entire countries population as bi-polar IMO.

BERSERK and Naoki Urasawa's MONSTER have got to be the best 2 anime I've ever seen.

Berserk is a mediocre anime adaptation , if you're talking about the tv serie . Of course it was due to limited budget , but still ...

The music is awesome , and the original material is so great that we can only enjoy it , but as an anime , it's not that good .

People forget that "everybody" watch animes of wide and varied genre over there . While in the west its mostly us "otakus" along with kids (well at least for the popular shonen stuff and kids show) . Of course it's going to be quite different

Can't be that surprise that most people would be watching K-on over something as niche as Boogiepop Phantom

The original anime from the 90's is the one I'm talking about and yes I know it had a limited budget. I read the manga beforehand but it was still amazing how they did the anime with such a budget. The movie was good in some aspects and it didn't wow me like the original anime, but they did a good job and they're continuing the movies further into the story which is what I'm really excited about. I have no idea why you think BERSERK is not that good of an anime. Maybe you just don't like the genre?

"BERSERK is not that good of an anime. Maybe you just don't like the genre"

Not at all , i love it , i even told your the original manga is great . The production value wasnt that good that's all for the tv serie .

To begin with, the majority of the action scenes in the anime were panned or zoomed stills rather than animated. When the action scenes weren't panned stills, they tended to be reused animation. There are quite a few fight scenes and not a single one looks good. Most fights consist of poorly animated attacks and dramatic stills again .

The character designs themselves weren't so bad, but nothing special. If you compared the stills from the anime to pages in the manga you would see that the manga was much better drawn .

Not helping things are the backgrounds; most of them are simple watercolor images, and not great ones at that.

The thing that seemed and kept the anime together was the excellent music score from Susumu Hirasawa . Hell some of the most epic battles scenes are not so much from the anime , but the epic vibe from the track "Forces" .

At last let's not forget how much was removed and altered from the plot .

"it was still amazing how they did the anime with such a budget."

I dont think so , they did their job , but there are anime with the same kind of budget and lower that still did a lot whole better in quality of their animation or art .

Outlaw star was a low budget production of the 90s , but looks neat .

Anyway i still stands by my opinion , Berserk isnt a really good anime , it's source material , art, characters , concepts and plots are awesome enough to suffer through the bad realisation .

Bebop is still number one in my book, but I'm surprised Darker than Black isn't on the list. Nice to see Working! on there as well.
