Despite record attendance which resulted in all tickets selling out several days in advance, the 2012 New York Comic Con went far more smoothly than the chaotically crowded first con in the series seven years ago, which this year's staggering swarms of people on peak days Saturday and Sunday occasionally evoked. This year NYCC had at last succeeded in acquiring the right to occupy the entire Jacob K. Javits Convention Center all weekend — at least, the part of it that wasn't under construction in an effort to expand the somewhat outdated convention center's facilities.
