Anime review: Black Lagoon | Examiner

Raymond Herrera:

Earlier this week, on Dec. 4, 2012, anime publisher FUNimation Entertainment released seasons one and two of “Black Lagoon” in a DVD/Blu-ray combo pack and they provided us with the opportunity to review this intense action series based on the manga by Rei Hiroe.

“Black Lagoon” follows the story of Rokuro “Rock” Okajima, a normal Japanese salaryman who finds himself being kidnapped in the seas of Southeast Asia while on a job to recover an item for his company. His captors are the Lagoon Company, comprised of Revy, Dutch and Benny, and their goal is to steal the disc Rokuro is carrying and deliver it to the Russian mob so they can extort the powerful company. After some close calls and gunfights though Rokuro learns that his company would rather he die and the disc disappear with him, forcing him to make a tough decision about what to do with his life.

I'm working on this title myself. Not bad so far! I'm wondering what FUNi has planed for us next week.

The show is cool but i cant stand Rock. He really got on my nerves. If you like this show you would love Jormungand.

Jormungand is good, but the character design kinda bugs me. What I hate most is the little boy mercenary, he doesn't fit the series.

I was hooked first five minutes, currently on third episode of disc 2 on blu ray.
