‘Ghost in the Shell Arise’ anime to come sometime in 2013

A new Ghost in the Shell anime is headed our way sometime in 2013, if three pictures that blogger ieee80211abgn took of the latest issue of Young Magazine, which hits newsstands in Japan tomorrow, are to be believed.

The new anime series is entitled Ghost in the Shell Arise (攻殻機動隊 ARISE), and it will be directed by Kise Kazuchika, an Osaka-based animator and one of the bigwigs over at studio Production I.G.

Ghost in the Shell Arise‘s story will be penned by Japanese science fiction novelist and scriptwriter Tow Ubukata (of Mardock Scramble fame), and its soundtrack will be scored by Japanese musician Cornelius (real name: Keigo Oyamada) who contributed the tune Katayanagi Twins Battle Song featured in the soundtrack to the movie Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.

The story is too old to be commented.

Pretty exciting news. Cornelius being on board only adds to the hype. Although, Motoko's character design is pretty underwhelming. I think they had it right in Second Gig, but I'm sure I'll warm up to this one.

I agree, I'm not liking the way she looks this time around. It looks a bit like your standard generic anime design. The past Ghost in the Shell's have always had a great look to them, but I'm concerned about the overall quality if that is the character design for the Major.
