A Manga Starring a Guy Obsessed With Donating Blood

The competitive world of digital comics is about to get a lot bloodier. On January 23, at the Foreign Correspondent's Club of Japan press conference, the usually somber Mamoru Oshii spoke about his latest creation, Chimamire Mai Love (My Soaked In Blood Love or Blood-Stained Mai Love), which is a black comedy about a high school student with a fetish for donating blood and his strange friendship with Mai, a wandering Transylvanian vampire—who is too timid to actually bite anyone. When the two form a friendship—well, in situation comedy parlance, "wacky, bloody chaos ensues." (Chimamire Mai Love, Mamoru Oshii, Manga)

I've seen a lot of blood drives in Japan advertised with anime promotions or moe mascots to try and draw the otaku crowd so they know what they are doing. As for this, well there are other manga like this already. Kiryuin Kaya already has a guy who basically is a vampire girl's food source since he has an abundant amount of blood and he lives with her etc.

Huh. This actually sounds fairly interesting. It's a different twist, I'll give it that. I just hope it's a comedic slice of life thing and not fanservice central.

Sounds like Mai would love this guy to pieces for better or worse. lol
