At least it seems they are taking some cues from Akira. The city, the motorcycle, the Major's red outfit... All from Akira.

While we are on the subject of Ghost in the Shell, could someone give me the full chronology of all the Ghost in the Shell series and movies. I mean in the actual order that they were release and not the according to the timeline of the mythology. You know what; I could use that as well, if someone is kind enough to give both. But the actual release order is more important.

I was aware of the original movie and SAC and 2nd Gig. The last several years I have watching other anime. I recently got access to the Manga Entertainment streaming service and I noticed that there are 7 or 8 GiTS releases on there. And now this article is telling me about a 9th one. I need to catch up and I want to watch them all in order of release.

I'll reserve judgement until I see it, but as a fan of the original work I really don't have high hopes for this reboot thing.
