Jormungand Is An Absolutely Worthless Show And You’ll Be Hard-Pressed To Convince Me Otherwise

Mr. Flawfinder: Of all the crap anime I’ve seen over the past year or so, Jormungand is the one that never seems to leave my mind in regards to how bad it was, despite it ending more than six months ago. Every time I think of it, I go back to my MAL, decided I ranked it too high, and lower my score by one point whilst ignoring the fact that everyone else seems to think the anime was cool. For the love of me, I still don’t get what people see in this show.

I thought the first season was great; to me, it is the second season that was the train wreck. The show presents itself as a quasi-realistic show about the dark world and lives of mercenaries/arms dealers and their ventures and struggles... (Particularly against the CIA Paramilitary Counter-Measures Unit, or Black Ops) Remarkably similar to Black Lagoon at first. However, after about 15 episodes the show becomes not about the ventures/characters and more about "achieving world peace" (Yes, really.) in an completely absurd and unbelievable manner. It really wasn't in line with the rest of the all. In all honesty, it came across to me as a complete and total cop-out. So yes, I agree- this anime is best avoided.

Replace "quasi-realistic" with "not realistic in the least" and I'll agree with you. I'm not the biggest military expert, but I know enough about them to know that the writer didn't even bother to research the Black Ops or the CIA. Or he hated them. Because the anime didn't portray them accurately in the least. It's like they were written by a middle-school fanfic writer.

I don't necessarily agree with people that bring emotion into conversation regarding what is essentially art. It makes the entire conversation rather pointless. Drop the hyperbole; then we can start to have a legitimate exchange of dialogue.

I can't believe anyone would place Guilty Crown over Jormungand. There's a lot of worthless show... and this is not one of them.

Flawfinder1187d ago

Guilty Crown at least had beautiful animation. Jormungand's is just unacceptable.

DELETED2741187d ago

again, i'm gonna have to strongly disagree with that statement.

Guilty Crown is yet an other typical looking anime with a bad story about a common male teenager magically becoming the only one that can save the world. The animation was good but really not enough to be worth watching.

Then you have Jormungand, a political anime about war and the military industrial complex... and at least they had the audacity of trying something a tiny bit different with animation... It does the job without upstaging the story. It's not the type of show where you want a "guilty crown" character design.

but I guess in the end it comes down to taste... and it looks like we have very different one. But I really had to express my opposition to the word worthless being associated with Jormungand.

I strongly recommend watching it.

You want people to watch an anime where car chase scenes look like they're going at 35 MPH because the animators were afraid to get a speeding ticket? Also Guilty Crown had Dan Eagleman: The True American Hero.

I agree with you prince. Jormungand is superior to Guilty crown.
