I’ve delayed weighing in on the love/hate controversy surrounding Studio Trigger’s runaway hit, Kill la Kill. Much like this season’s Space Dandy, Kill la Kill was hearkened a “savior” of anime. The show is helmed by former Gainax staff members with plenty of Gurren Lagann flavor. The revenge story follows Ryuko Matoi as she seeks to hunt down her father’s killer. Her only clues are a silhouette and the weapon left behind at the scene: a scissor blade. Her search leads her to Honnouji Academy, a school system run by a fascist student council president, Satsuki Kiryuuin and Ryuko’s prime suspect. The school’s hierarchy is based on “Goku;” school uniforms that empower its wearer with special abilities.
