A breakdown of the strengths and weaknesses of 2013's first blockbuster anime, with a focus on how conflict works in action shows.
I had a lot of fun with Kill la Kill - the score's maybe lower than some would expect, but I still think it's a reasonable show. Popcorn can be pretty great.
I managed to read through all that wall of text and all I can say about it is that it fails as a review. There were too many spoilers revealed throughout the review in both text and screenshots. I hope that no one who was planning on watching the anime sometime later was unfortunate enough to have read it. My personal opinion on this piece is that I completely disagree with the author that Kill la kill is a 6 out of 10 considering the volume of garbage that exists out there. The animation for this show was one of the best I've seen in years. You could easily make out every punch, kick, explosion etc. while in modern shoenen anime whenever they enter high speed combat you see a significant deterioration in art and the frames drop significantly to where it becomes noticeable. Also The soundtrack and the characters were both great and the story was decent. IMO the score for this anime should not get any less than a 7.5 or higher than a 8.5.
Well, not everyone values the same aspects of a show equally, and for this reviewer only shiny action and animation doesn't do the trick. You seem to believe that everyone is supposed to think like you.
Stating my own opinion and criticism doesn't main I don't respect other peoples views and ideas or I would not have took the time to read the whole thing in the first place. My main issue was that the review contained too many spoilers. There is no way you can defend that. Readers need to be able to be able to read a review and not be exposed to spoilers. The next issues I had were the complaints and the score which is my opinion. We all knew what to expect before watching due to past anime like Gurren Lagann and knowing this we should not review this with the same standards used for the average anime. Also its easy to recommend this to anyone who enjoyed Gurren Lagann or FLCL.
Not all reviews are intended as previews for people who haven't seen shows, and basically none of mine are. They're post-show breakdowns of craft and themes. As for the animation... eh, just totally disagree. Kill la Kill had a very engaging art STYLE, but its animation was very, very limited - there were only a few scenes scattered throughout that actually impressed me on a pure animation level.
