This episode made me realize. This isn't a dark and psychological show, magical girl or otherwise. Most of the depth /and/ "darkness" are skin-deep and come through the visuals. This is a light shounen show about the magical power of friendship and awesome fights, as most TCG adaptations are.

Yes, we've got some bits on socialization, which is what Mari Okada likes, but for it to become "dark" it'd need quite a change in direction, and to make it actually /work/ would be harder still.
