CNN Wonders Why Anime Child Porn Isn't Banned in Japan

This week, it was announced that Japan finally outlawed child pornography. The ban does not cover 2D sexualized representations of children in manga and video games. CNN International wonders why.

The story is too old to be commented.

This was one of the more bizarre cases of (yellow) journalism I've encountered in CNN for a long time. I don't check the site regularly, but...

>While no link has been made between anime, manga and child abuse
>Japan is facing a "serious" child abuse problem, according to a White Paper issued by e National Police Agency in March
>While the NPA continued to maintain that no link was established between these animated images and child victimization, other experts suggested children are harmed by a culture that appears to accept child sexual abuse.

And the fact that CNN is essentially downtalking everything in their video and text. Or that the manga cover they censored was... not lewd at all!

I don't mind tackling this subject, far from, but this was a really awful example of how not to act as a journalist.

Or the fact they blurred the entire manga store, saying it was all porn! When The Guardian covered it, they used images of Madoka Magica.

its cause it would be a waste of time going after fake child porn and not real one's where actual children are getting hurt
