The Hergula: Beyond the Boundary, known as Kyoukai no Kanata in Japan, is an ongoing light novel series by Nagomu Torii, illustrated by Tomoyo Kamoi. It spawned an anime television series in 2013, directed by Taichi Ishidate, followed by a few OVAs. Now, two films are on their way, one of which will be about the old and the other about everything new. Gekijouban Kyoukai no Kanata I’ll Be Here: Kako-hen is a film which retells the events of the 2013 anime television series, with Gekijouban Kyoukai no Kanata I’ll Be Here: Mirai-hen being a completely new anime, meaning that it is a continuation of the previous anime. To put it simply, Kako-hen is a film version of the TV series and Mirai-hen is a completely new work.
The 90-second trailer shows off Mirai-hen, set one year after the events in the TV series.
