What’s this? An inspired choice for an anime adaptation? I’m dreaming aren’t I? In April, it was revealed that Adam Wingard would be directing the Death Note adaptation in what I’d call a perfect choice. Apparently Warner Bros. is now taking things more seriously as the live-action Akira, which has long been in development hell, now has a writer according to The Hollywood Reporter. Marco J. Ramirez, Co-showrunner for season 2 of Netflix’s Daredevil and also the scriptwriter for season 1, is the scribe assigned with the task of adapting Katsuhiro Otomo’s classic manga to the big screen. The movie will be produced by Andrew Lazar (American Sniper) and Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way.
