"This Janaury and Febuary at the Takarazuka Grand Theater in Japan, a Shakespeare classic, Romeo et Juliette, was performed by Takarazuka Revue’s Snow Troupe. Now what makes this particular rendition of the tragic tale of Romeo and Juliet so special? For those who don’t know the Takarazuka Revue is an all female musical theatre troupe based in Japan. Women play the roles of both males (otokoyaku) and females (musumeyaku). The Revue was founded by Kobayashi Ichizo in 1913, who wanted to open some kind of attraction to attract business to Takarazuka city. Actress Yuki Amami (BOSS) was once part of the Takarauka Revue. Jpop-idol group Morning Musume, has also collaborated with the Takarazuka Revue on several occasions."
