Hi everyone and welcome to our 12 Days of Christmas Competition. =)
Okay, so I don't have exact totals right now, but some quick estimation in my head shows that....well, we don't have a tiebreaker right now I don't think, but we could potentially have one after today, depending on how the responses come out. So....we'll know soon enough if I have to do a sudden-death tiebreaker this year once again. If that does come around, we'll be making arrangements with the players involved in it, so that we start at a time convenient for all players.
As we previously mentioned in the main competition blog for this month, I'll be posting a new blog each day with a set of challenges. While each day will be different, every day will have at least 1 trivia question, and 1 creative challenge. With all of the challenges, you'll collect points just for having taken part and having had a go. Obviously you'll be getting more points in the trivia contests if you actually get it right, and there'll also be bonus points awarded in the creative challenges for people whose efforts are particularly memorable. Being so bad that they're good qualifies as "memorable", so don't worry if you're not at drawing if an art challenge rolls around. ;)
So without further ado, here's today's challenges!
Last year, our final trivia challenge was something stupidly obscure. We have you one clue, and you had to guess what we were referring to. In that case, the clue was "17", and the answer was Inoue Kikuko (the seiyu whose comedic trademark is to respond that she's 17 years old whenever she's asked her age).
This year, we're not going to be quite as cruel (at least as long as we don't have to go to a tiebreak). We're going to give you two clues. ;) Your job is to guess who or what we're hinting at. Whatever the answer is, it'll relate to otaku culture in some way.
So, your clues this year are as follows.....
- Santa's Little Helpers
Trivia answers should be PMed directly to me, and not posted in this blog. You only receive 1 chance to answer each riddle, so be sure of your answer before sending it in!
Correct responses to today's trivia question receive 5 points,
Incorrect responses to today's trivia question receive 1 point. Yes, that's right, you get points just for taking part!
An early Christmas present for everyone. This is your chance to either catch up quickly, or to crash and burn.
Today, I'm giving you a second chance to resubmit an answer to any previous trivia question you've attempted. However, there are strings attached. If you get the answer right, then you'll get 3 points, regardless of how many points the trivia question may have been worth on Day 12 originally. If you get it wrong however, you'll get no points for the trivia question at all, not even for your first attempt.
Trivia questions can only be resubmitted if you submitted an answer on a previous day in the first place. If you haven't submitted an answer for them before now, you're out of luck. The resubmitted answer MUST be different to the answer you originally guessed, so if you've sure you've got it correct, there's no point in resubmitting. You're going to have to rely on your own judgement for that. Finally, you MUST include the word "RESUBMIT" in the subject of your PM, together with the day of the original riddle, otherwise I'll ignore it and you won't get the points.
For today's challenge, I'd like for you to help us with our annual holiday greeting. You see....we haven't made a Christmas card this year. Just slipped right by us. We'd really like to do one up for once. Here's where you come in. Create for us a Christmas scene incorporating your favorite anime/manga/tokusatsu characters. The exact content of that scene, apart from that required inclusion, is up to you. You can use any kind of visual medium, regardless of if that's a drawing, photo, or something else. As always, you can get your inspiration from anywhere.
Creative responses should be posted directly to this blog. Unlike the trivia challenges, you may modify your entry as many times as you like, or until the system no longer lets you edit it anyway.
Creative challenges are challenges of creativity and not of skill. Points will be awarded based on your ideas more than on your skill at executing them (ie. don't worry if you can't draw or write well, you can still get big points!)
Memorable responses to today's creative challenge will receive between 3 and 5 points (at our discretion)
Anyone who has "a reasonable go" at today's challenge (again, at our discretion) will receive 2 points.
If you have any questions about today's challenges, please post them here.
Good luck everyone!
