I could never imagine any Anime being as enticing as this one when I first heard about it being focused on a crew of Debris collectors in outer says.
I was pleasantly surprised with the Ending as well.

Can someone recommend me a similar anime to Planetes?

Mugen no ryvius is your best bet dude.
Its by the same writer.

I looked it up and i dont see how its by the same author. I will probably try both of them. Lately i watched so much space animes im burned out with them. I will try out Mugen No Ryvius though.

It's not the same writer. Makoto Yukimura penned Planetes, Yōsuke Kuroda penned Infinite Ryvius. Ryvius is more like Lord of the Flies in space.
