North American anime distributor Funimation announced at its Otakon panel on Saturday that it has licensed the following anime: Tenchi Muyo! War on Geminar (Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari), Space Battleship Yamato Resurrection, One Piece Film Strong World, the Fairy Tail: Hōō no Miko film, and Akira. In addition, the company has added additional rights to Aquarion Evol, Lupin III: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine, Sankarea, and Maken-Ki! Battling Venus. The company has also licensed season two of Fairy Tail and season five of One Piece.
So. Much. Anime.
Great to see that they're doing more Fairy Tail and One Piece, but WOW at snatching up Akira!
Damn, FUNimation just came out and picked up a ton of great series, even Maken-Ki. Glad to see that they are picking up Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari as well.
Hmmm, it's interesting to see how angry the ANN forum members are over some of these acquisitions. Seems some of them are practically foaming at the mouth because FUNimation picked up Maken-ki for release. Interesting to see that despite the fact that these types of shows are probably sell high numbers, practically no one steps up to defend the shows.
how are they going to dub Srong World if they haven't introduced Brook yet since the new season only goes up to lobby enis and franky joins?
I watched Strong Hold the other day and I was impressed by how good it was. This is the first time I see a movie based on an anime which is actually good because every movie from DBZ, Naruto and Bleach are really bad. Some are even worse than their worst filler episodes....
