Looking East / Japanese creators build bonds at overseas anime events

The Daily Yomiuri's Takamasa Sakurai writes, " Last month, I participated in the Japan Expo in Paris for the first time in two years. Compared with previous years, this 13th event, held July 5-8, attracted many Japanese.

The number of dojinshi booths has rapidly increased over the years. Most of the mangaka whose works I found to be excellent are Taiwanese, and their booths are always crowded. Whenever I see such crowds, I want more Japanese dojinshi artists to try their luck abroad. That's why I was very happy to see so many Japanese artists--many of them women--this time around."
