Shinazugawa Genya has a unique way of fighting compared to the rest of the cast in Demon Slayer. It’s not every day in the world of Kimetsu no Yaiba that you will see someone whipping out a Gun in a mostly Sword anime. Why? Well, it’s already been established that the Nichirin Swords are a particular type of Sword that can destroy Demons. So, a Gun doesn’t really make any sense.
However, if the bullets of the Gun are made with the same material as the Nichirin Swords, this shouldn’t pose a problem. With that said, Genya’s Gun is called a Nichirin Shotgun, and its bullets are made of Scarlet Crimson Iron and Scarlet Ore, the same material as normal Nichirin Swords. In addition, he also has a shorter Nichirin Wakizashi he can utilize to make the final blow if need be.
So why a Shotgun and mini-sword, you may ask? Well, that’s because Genya has absolutely no talent for Breathing Styles. So, to make up for his lack of talent, Genya has mastered the art of the Shotgun. While you may think it to be a little out of place, Genya utilizes this talent exceptionally well, as we have already seen in the Demon Slayer Swordsmith Village arc.
