When you first go in to watch Demon Slayer – To the Swordsmith Village, you may believe this is what you are getting. Wrong! The entire film is basically a recap of the last two episodes of the second season, Demon Slayer; Kimetsu no Yaiba Entertainment Arc. You will watch an hour’s worth of anime you’ve already seen before. While there is nothing wrong with these episodes, they are excellent in their own right, and the visuals and camera work are chefs’ kiss; they definitely keep you wanting more.

The visuals saved the film
There is one thing Demon Slayer fans can not dispute: the absolutely fantastic animation scenes in the movie, which is its only saving grace. Once the Upper Six, Daki, and Gyutaro have been defeated, we are taken to an alternate dimension of Muzan’s creation. Here we find out this is where all Upper-Rank demons liaise, and Muzan continues his search for a cure. During these scenes, the chemical apparatus Muzan uses is just done to per-fec-tion.
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – To the Swordsmith Village review score
If you’re watching Demon Slayer film as a proud anime and excited about any content, this film rates 3.5/5 as an overall score. However, if you went into the film expecting just a tab bit more than what we already know, this film gets a solid 2.5/5.
Don’t get us wrong; the film was still quite enjoyable (due to its animation style). Not to mention there are plenty of times you will find yourself having a hearty laugh. However, there are many times throughout the film when you are stuck watching the end credits and rewatching an altered version of an intro. And unlike having the full authority to fast-forward and skip, you will have to endure this.
