Throughout Demon Slayer or Kimetsu no Yaiba, it’s not surprising that we will meet various Demon Slayers and see new techniques. One of the major supporting characters (whom we already met in season 1) is Shinazugawa Genya. Due to his lone-wolf personality, Genya often keeps to himself and pushes others away. Demon Slayer – Is Genya a Demon?
If you’re an anime-only fan, you may have seen snippets of Genya looking like a Demon or using Demon Blood Art; you may be wondering if Genya is a Demon. Well, to answer your question, Genya is not a Demon. He is a full-blooded Human. However, Genya learned that by eating the flesh of Demons, he could use Demon Blood Art.
This will not turn Genya into a Demon. To turn into a Demon, you will need the blood from Kibutsuji Muzan or an Upper-Rank Demon who has a high dosage of Muzans blood. However, by eating flesh, Genya can transform into a Demon temporarily.
Why is this, you may ask? That’s because Genya has absolutely no talent for using Breathing Styles! This is one of the main components of Demon Slayer, as it assists Slayers in defeating Demons. So, to help him out, Genya will use a Nichirin Shotgun, along with a Nichirin Wakizashi (a shorter Nichirin blade).
During the Swordsmith Village Arc, as mentioned above, Genya will soon learn his own Demon Blood Art. This will happen during his fight with Upper-Rank Four Zohakuten and (later from) Upper-Rank One Kokushibo; Genya will gain the ability to use Wooden Flesh Bullets.
