Ultimately in an event to possess him when he has a chance. We already know that Yuji has excellent mental stability; thus, he was able to keep Sukuna at bay the majority of the time. However, Megumi does not. We see this come to fruition during the Culling Game Arc. During the Culling Game, Megumi’s step-sister Tsumiki reveals herself as a reincarnated sorcerer, Yorozu.
This completely shocks Megumi, and Sukuna takes the chance to rip off one of Yuji’s fingers to force feed to Megumi. This, in turn, allows Sukuna to take over Megumi’s consciousness. It’s suspected that Sukuna will use the Ten Shadows Technique to revive himself; however, that’s all we have right now from the manga.
